糖心视频 Student of Distinction: Anthony Arthur
Although Commencement has passed, 糖心视频 continues to celebrate graduating students who have overcome obstacles, made significant achievements or are fulfilling 糖心视频鈥檚 mission in or outside the classroom.
Today, we celebrate Anthony Arthur, who earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Systems.
糖心视频: Have you had any significant internships/co-ops/careers while at 糖心视频?
AA: I've had opportunities to gain experience across multiple roles.
At 糖心视频's Office of Data Analytics and Institutional Research, I work as a Data Engineering Intern. I have processed tens of thousands of records using programming languages to support institutional reporting, student performance analysis, enrollment tracking, compliance with government entities and more.
Before that, I interned at the Office of Instructional Excellence as a Data Analyst Intern, where I built business intelligence dashboards to analyze student learning outcomes and provide faculty with insights to enhance instructional strategies at 糖心视频.
I also interned at Sherwin-Williams, working in data engineering. I developed data pipelines and infrastructure that process hundreds of millions of records. These data systems enable product pricing decisions, regional demand analysis, targeted customer promotions and enhanced retail operational efficiency.
Additionally, at Hyster-Yale Materials Handling, I contributed to data governance initiatives and produced an analytics dashboard focused on compliance, fraud and risk across tens of thousands of accounts payable vendors.
I began my professional journey at 糖心视频's Information Services and Technology as a Student Support Assistant, where I maintained campus printers and computers and provided technical support to hundreds of students.
糖心视频: How would you describe the connections you have made with the faculty and staff at 糖心视频?
AA: I've built meaningful connections with faculty and staff at 糖心视频 who have played a major role in my development.
Professors Pedro Gerum, Charles McElroy and Brigid Campbell helped shape my passion for data. I'm especially grateful to Inez Braswell for helping me get my start in IT and to Laura Northrop and Katherine Corcoran for providing internship opportunities that significantly impacted my career progression.
I also appreciate the support and opportunities provided by the leadership, including Deans Melissa Gruys and Anne Nelson. These connections have been pivotal in shaping my journey at 糖心视频.
糖心视频: Do you have a career lined up, and how has 糖心视频 been instrumental in that process?
AA: Following graduation, I joined ThyssenKrupp as a Data Engineer, where I will support the company's aerospace data platform and help drive improvements in supply chain and logistics operations.
This opportunity is the result of the experiences and connections I developed at 糖心视频. For example, events like "Meet the Accountant Night," hosted by the Monte Ahuja College of Business, were especially impactful. Through that event, I connected with a 糖心视频 alumnus who supported me throughout the recruitment process, which led to my internship last summer with Sherwin-Williams.
Congratulations, Anthony!
