Graduate Student Ambassador Program at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ 

The College of Graduate Studies at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ is transitioning from the Graduate Student Advisory Board to a Graduate Student Ambassador program. This group of students helps foster a welcoming, connected, and vibrant graduate community across ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ's five graduate colleges and 100+ graduate programs. This is an ideal opportunity for graduate students who are passionate about the ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ community and enjoy connecting with others while developing their leadership, communication, and professional skills.

Graduate Student Ambassadors serve a one-year term (fall and spring semesters) and represent the variety of academic disciplines and experiences that define ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ's graduate student body. Ambassadors work closely with the College of Graduate Studies staff to develop programming, strengthen peer networks, and ensure that every graduate student feels supported and connected. 

There will be two ambassadors representing each college.

Responsibilities & Duties
Community Building 

• Assist Graduate College staff with facilitating  graduate student events throughout the academic year, including the New Graduate Student Welcome Reception, Prospective Graduate Student Social, and Graduate & Professional Student Appreciation Week.
• Contribute ideas for new programming that reflects the needs and interests of ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ's graduate student population, including working professionals, part-time students, full-time students, and online students.
• Plan one program each semester to enhance social engagement and community for students in your academic college.
• Work with your fellow ambassadors to organize one college-wide event for graduate students each semester.

Social Media and Communications

• Create content for COGS social media accounts or use your own social media accounts to amplify COGS and ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ programming and resources for ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ graduate students
• Manage a GroupMe chat for the college to share events and services with students in your college

Office Hours and Student Support

• Host 2 hours of office hours per month (with virtual appointment options) to serve as a resource for students in your college
  • Connect students to academic college, COGS or university resources
  • Make note of concerns raised by students
• Manage an ambassador inbox to hear from students about their interests, concerns, and experiences at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ

Time Commitment

• Two 1-hour meetings with the College of Graduate Studies each semester, plus a mandatory kickoff meeting in May and a mandatory pre-orientation meeting during the week of August 10
  • Virtual options will be available for most meetings; however, the expectation is that students have availability to facilitate in-person programming and attend a kickoff meeting in May and a meeting before orientation in August in person
• 2 hours of office hours per month
• About 4-6 hours total per month including events and social media management
