The Division of Student Belonging and Success wants to make sure you are informed about your health insurance coverage as you prepare for life at ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ! 

Health coverage means you have direct access to our campus clinic. The ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ/MetroHealth Clinic is located on the second floor of the College of Health building and offers a variety of services to students.

Waiving Health Insurance

International students, university housing residents and health care students are automatically enrolled in UnitedHealthCare (UHC) insurance coverage through ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ. If you have alternative insurance that meets all criteria, you can apply for a waiver. If approved, this waiver will remove health insurance fees from your account. 

Fall Waiver Period: Aug. 1–Sept. 26
Spring Waiver Period: Dec. 8–Feb. 13
Summer Waiver Period: April 20–June 5

To Enroll in Health Insurance

All students are welcome to enroll in health insurance. To enroll, log into, choose the personal data tab > health insurance > magnifying glass (choose appropriate year) > choose plan.

Once enrolled, you can access your insurance information and a digital version of your ID card via the. ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ's plan is underwritten by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company and is based on Policy #2025-444-2. Student Health Center Referral Requirement

The ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ issued health insurance plan requires students to use the services of the ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ Clinic first, where treatment will be administered or a referral issued. 

There are exceptions to the mandatory referral requirement. Please review exceptions thoroughly to avoid additional deductible fees.

ÌÇÐÄÊÓƵ promotes student health and injury prevention. Our student insurance plan supplements University Health Services by covering higher-cost care—such as hospitalization, imaging, and specialist services—up to specified limits.

Students are covered by the plan 24 hours every day. Coverage remains in force year-round provided an application has been made, eligibility requirements have been met, and the premium paid for each year. Insurance payment is due on your payment due date.
